BUDAPEST, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Hungary's annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth was 4.9 percent in 2019, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday.

"GDP was 46,787 billion forints (152 billion U.S. dollars) at current prices. The performance of the economy was up by 4.9 percent according to seasonally and calendar-adjusted and reconciled data," KSH said.

"From the production approach, value added increased by 21 percent in construction, 5.0 percent in industry and 4.2 percent in services and it diminished by 0.3 percent in agriculture," it said.

"Services contributed to the growth of GDP by 2.3 percentage points and industry and construction by 1.0 percentage point each."

"Economic growth was supported by favorable housing data in the context of the home-building program, the efficient use of EU (European Union) funds and the reduction of the corporate tax rate to nine percent since 2017, which is expected to further strengthen Hungary's ability to attract capital," the Hungarian news agency MTI quoted the Ministry of Finance as saying.
