BERLIN, March 10 (Xinhua) -- RB Leipzig booked their first ever quarterfinal berth in Europe's premier football competition after Marcel Sabizter was on target twice to edge Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 (4-0 on aggregate) in the second leg of UEFA Champions League last sixteen on Tuesday.

The "Bulls" smoothed their way into the quarterfinals within 21 minutes as a quick first half brace from Marcel Sabizter knocked out uninspired Tottenham Hotspur, who failed to do damage in both encounters.

Julian Nagelsmann's men assumed control from the kick-off and pressed the visitors on the back foot.

Manchester City loanee Angelino unleashed the first warning with just two minutes into the encounter before Timo Werner's square pass allowed Sabitzer to hammer home the opener from 20 meters into the bottom left corner with ten minutes played.

Leipzig continued powerfully and thought they had doubled their advantage in the 19th minute but Werner's goal was ruled offside.

The host had the ball in the back of the net once again two minutes later as Sabitzer wrapped up his brace after heading home Angelino's pinpoint cross to the near.

Tottenham showed no response and came to their first chance in the closing period of the first half when Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi denied Lo Celso from the edge of the box.

After the restart, Leipzig remained in control of the proceedings on the pitch as Tottenham failed to pose any threat to the host's defence.

Patrik Schick and Werner produced half chances for the home side while substitute Emil Forsberg staged a clinical chance conversion after putting the result beyond doubt 27 seconds after his fielding.

With the result, Leipzig progress into the quarterfinals for the first time in the club's history whereas last year's finalist Tottenham crashed out in the round of the last sixteen.

"We gave everything and won absolutely deserved. We can achieve a lot as we go to the limit as a team," Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann said.
