NICOSIA, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Another four people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Cyprus, the country's Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

The Health Ministry said in a statement that two of those infected flew in from the United Kingdom on Tuesday night and were detected by a thermal monitoring camera at Larnaca Airport.

They are treated in a quarantined section of Nicosia General Hospital, the statement added.

The third person is being treated in hospital in Limassol. He contacted the authorities on Tuesday, saying he had developed a fever. The fourth person had been self-quarantined at home and contacted authorities after developing COVID-19 symptoms..

The statement said that the ministry's Epidemiological Surveillance Unit has started the process of tracing their contacts.

Meanwhile, President of Cyprus's House of Representatives, Demetris Syllouris, and the delegation that escorted him on his recent official visit to Athens have decided to self-isolate, a parliament spokesman said on Wednesday.

Cypriot authorities have announced a series of measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, including sanitizing two hospitals, closing down schools, and banning musical and theatrical events.

They also banned large gatherings, such as conferences. Gatherings of over 75 people in confined spaces, such as restaurants, bars and cafeterias have also been banned. The ban does not apply to factories and other places of work, provided that hygienic measures are in place.
