NAY PYI TAW, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The 18th meeting of Myanmar's Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) was held on Thursday in capital Nay Pyi Taw.

State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, in her capacity as a chairperson of UPDJC, said in her remarks, "There should be compromises and negotiations in the political meeting. So as to achieve the peace process, we have to try to compromise and negotiate with each political party."

"To make the political meetings successful, it is very important to establish the unity on the basis of fair compromises and negotiations," she added, urging to move forward with positive cooperation and Panglong spirit.

The meeting discussed the approval of the framework of political dialogue, terms of reference (ToR), standard operation procedure (SOP) and to hold national political dialogues and working committee meetings by sector as well as the 21st Century Panglong Conference before April 2020.

The officials from the government, military and parliament, the representatives from the ethnic armed groups and political parties were present at the Thursday meeting.
