BEIJING, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Super League (CSL) outfit Wuhan Zall has been put under quarantine in Shenzhen after they ended a prolonged and turbulent journey in Spain and returned to China, the Wuhan FC announced on Tuesday.

The CSL side landed in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen at 3 pm local time on Monday, and checked into the hotel designated by the local government at 4 am on Tuesday after going through a long customs clearing and quarantine process, the club said on its Weibo account.

The Wuhan-based team arrived in Spain on January 29 and ran into unexpected troubles. Their head coach Jose Gonzalez had to hold a press conference to explain that he had not carried the virus from Wuhan, the then epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

"During the 44-day training camp in Spain, the team's mood was a bit unsettled, they were concerned about the well-being of their families and friends back in Wuhan," the club said.

The coaching staff had tried to calm players down and make them relaxed and positive following each day's training, according to the club.

The Wuhan team will be kept in quarantine for 14 days before being able to prepare for the 2020 CSL campaign -- the start of which has been delayed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
