FREETOWN, March 17 (Xinhua) -- The Government of Sierra Leone has announced restrictions on international travels of officials and bans public gatherings of more than a hundred people in its latest bid to prevent COVID-19.
Despite the fact that the West African Nation has not yet recorded a positive case, there are however confirmed cases reported in its immediate neighbors, Guinea and Liberia.
This follows some strict measures announced by the country's health ministry last Friday strongly advising all citizens and residents in Sierra Leone to postpone intended travel to any country, which has reported confirmed cases of COVID-19.
For those who cannot postpone intended travel, the government urged that they observe all necessary precautionary measures instituted by the means of travel and the host country.
Those entering Sierra Leone with signs and symptoms of the disease will be thoroughly monitored and to some extent quarantined for the required 14 days if symptoms persist.
