LONDON, March 19 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 1.40 percent, or 71.03 points, to close at 5,151.61 points.
M&G Investments, an international investment manager, soared 34.44 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Carnival and TUI increased by 18.90 percent and 18.80 percent, respectively.
International Consolidated Airlines Group, an Anglo-Spanish multinational airline holding company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 9.05 percent.
