LUANDA, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Angola registers two positive cases of coronavirus, the Minister of Health Silvia Lutukuta announced at a press conference Saturday morning in Luanda.
These are two male individuals, aged 36 and 38 years old, who entered Angola on the 17th and 18th of March, coming from Portugal.
Lutukuta stressed that people, who came from Portugal (about 300) are mapped and placed under surveillance, being easily located in case they do not comply with mandatory quarantine at home.
"In case of non-compliance, these citizens will be located through a mapping and taken to the existing quarantine centers on a mandatory basis," said the minister, adding that those persons have signed a questionnaire at the airport pledging to stay at home together with people of the same household.
To maintain vigilance and ensure that recommendations are followed, she said, the Ministry of Health, in partnership with Home Affairs Ministry created a team to respond to the personal needs of the citizens involved.
Lutucuta explained that the country has a multi-sector contingency plan to implement and to mitigate the possible complications of this pathology.
Several cultural, political and recreational events slated have been officially canceled as part of the measures to prevent the pandemic of COVID-19, the government also ordered the closure of schools, higher education institutions and kindergartens as from March 23.
Angola's Inter-ministerial Commission for the Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic recommended this week the mandatory quarantine of at least 14 days to all nationals or foreign residents who at any time have been in countries hit by the COVID-19.
