China's crude steel output sees steady expansion in Jan.-Feb.

BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhua) -- China's crude steel output registered steady growth in the first two months of 2020, industry data showed.

Crude steel output rose 3.07 percent to reach 155 million tonnes in the January-February period, with a daily output of 2.58 million tonnes, according to the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).

China is the world's largest crude steel producer. Last year, its output saw an 8.3-percent growth to stand at 996 million tonnes, marking a new all-time high.

In the January-February period, China's pig iron output gained 3.06 percent year on year to 132 million tonnes, the CISA data showed.

During the same period, rolled steel output in the country shrank 3.39 percent year on year to 167 million tonnes, according to the data.
