Shanghai reports 10 new imported COVID-19 cases

SHANGHAI, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai reported 10 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from other countries on Sunday, the municipal health commission said Monday.

The new report has brought the total number of imported cases in Shanghai to 66, while 18 suspected imported cases are under quarantine for further confirmation.

Among the 10 new cases, three were from Britain, three from the United States, two from France, one from the United Arab Emirates and one from Burkina Faso.

The patients have been sent to designated hospitals for treatment. A total of 47 people in close contact with the patients on flights have been put under concentrated medical observation.

On Sunday, Shanghai saw no new indigenous COVID-19 infections. The municipality has reported a total of 338 indigenous confirmed cases by Sunday, while one suspected domestic case is under quarantine for further confirmation.

Shanghai ordered people arriving in the city from other countries to undergo nucleic acid testing to screen for coronavirus from Monday.
