WUHAN, March 24 (Xinhua) -- China on Tuesday launched a program to give more care to medics who contracted the COVID-19 during the fight against the epidemic.

The program was initiated in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the Tencent Foundation, and implemented by a local hospital.

The program will offer "systematic and comprehensive support" for the infected medics, including physical and psychological observations, said Zhang Boli, an academician with the CAE.

The Tencent Foundation has donated 30 million yuan (around 4.2 million U.S. dollars) to the CAE to help with the program as well as research on epidemic control and prevention.
