KAMPALA, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Uganda late on Friday reported five new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the east African country to 23, the ministry of health said.
Out of 227 samples tested, five were positive, Ruth Aceng, minister of health, said in a Twitter message.
"Ugandans, please embrace our guidelines and preventive measures. We can prevent the spread of COVID-19 together," Aceng said.
The country has instituted a series of anti-virus measures including suspending public transport for two weeks.
