SHENZHEN, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies said it will invest 1.5 billion U.S. dollars over the next five years, targeting 5 million developers in its Kunpeng computing ecosystem.

The company will invest 200 million U.S. dollars throughout 2020 to support universities, startups, individual developers and its partners in the Kunpeng computing industry.

Hou Jinlong, president of Huawei's cloud and AI business group, made the remarks Friday on the Huawei Developer Conference 2020 held online, the company's annual flagship event for global developers, which was postponed for weeks due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The company also announced a collaboration with another Shenzhen-based tech giant Tencent, tapping the computing power of its Kunpeng processors to support Tencent's GameMatrix cloud game platform.

The two will set up a joint innovation lab that focuses on the cooperation in mobile cloud games, game engines and cutting-edge technologies, according to Ma Xiaoyi, Tencent’s senior vice president.

"At Tencent, we have built the GameMatrix platform designed for mobile cloud gaming. In the future, we will leverage Huawei Kunpeng processors to build quality, cost-effective mobile cloud gaming solutions," Ma said.

The construction of "new infrastructures" such as 5G, AI and the industrial Internet began to speed up in China, with major players like Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent and Suning.com making layouts in advance to capture the market.
