CONAKRY, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Sakoba Keita, director of Guinea's National Health Security Agency (ANSS), announced on Monday six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 including the Minister of Public Works Moustapha Naite, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 22.

Among the new cases, 2 cases due to community transmission, one case coming from the affected countries, and 3 cases whose transmission type has not been established yet.

The new cases are part of a group of 21 people tested on the same day. The other 15 tested negative.

More than 1,000 close contacts of the confirmed cases have been recorded in Guinea, said Keita, adding that more than 300 contacts are still dispersed in Guinea without any clear reference, which he says could worsen the outbreak in the coming days.

He called for the public to respect the disease prevention guidelines in order to avoid community transmission.
