Vietnam suspends all coaches, buses, taxis to cope with COVID-19

HANOI, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has enforced a restriction on all coaches, buses and taxis nationwide from Wednesday in a bid to tackle the COVID-19 epidemic, Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday.

The country's Ministry of Transport on Tuesday issued an urgent document ordering reduction of flights and suspension of road transportation, which requires trans- and inter-province and city coaches running on contracts, tourist buses, taxi and buses to be suspended for 15 days starting from Wednesday, the news agency reported.

All passenger flights to Vietnam are banned between Wednesday and April 15, the news agency reported, adding that domestic flights are significantly reduced, with only two return flights to connect the capital city of Hanoi and the southern Ho Chi Minh City, one return flight between Hanoi and Da Nang, and one return flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang per day.

Meanwhile, only one return North-South train trip is allowed to run per day, with all local trains ordered to halt operations in the same period of time, according to the news agency.
