SINGAPORE, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.52 percent, or 12.76 points, to close at 2,453.03.
A total of 1.49 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.56 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.09 billion U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 229 to 210.
The STI index went down 1.65 percent, or 40.96 points, to close at 2,440.27 Wednesday.
