Vietnam raises reference exchange rate

HANOI, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The State Bank of Vietnam on Friday set the daily reference exchange rate between the Vietnamese dong and the U.S. dollar at 23,239 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, up 7 Vietnamese dong against the previous trading day.

With the current trading band of plus or minus 3 percent, the ceiling exchange rate is 23,936 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, and the floor rate is 22,542 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, said the State Bank of Vietnam.

On Friday, listed rates at major commercial banks in Vietnam went down slightly against the previous trading day. Bank for Investment & Development of Vietnam (BIDV) has listed the rates at 23,420 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for buying and 23,600 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for selling, both down 100 Vietnamese dong. Meanwhile, Vietcombank cut its buying rates by 40 Vietnamese dong to 23,420 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar and also lowered its selling rate by 20 Vietnamese dong to 23,630 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar.

This week, the reference exchange rates have seen two ups and two downs with total magnitude of 12 Vietnamese dong and 8 Vietnamese dong, respectively.
