ADDIS ABABA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The Ethiopia Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) on Friday reported six new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing to 35 the total in the east African country.

"Ethiopia conducted 74 laboratory tests in the last 24 hours and six cases were confirmed for COVID-19, making the total cases 35," the FMOH said in a statement.

It said all six new cases are Ethiopian nationals, five of whom live in the capital, Addis Ababa, and the other is a resident of the eastern city of Dire Dawa.

The six, between the ages of 28 and 56, consist of five males and one female, the statement said.

Ethiopia, which reported its first confirmed COVID-19 case on March 13, has instituted a wide range of measures against the spread of virus, including mass disinfection in the capital and the closure of all land borders to the movement of people.
