SINGAPORE, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 3.4 percent, or 81.3 points, to close at 2,470.59.
A total of 1.51 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.43 billion Singapore dollars (about one billion U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 300 to 121.
The STI index went down 2.6 percent, or 63.74 points, to close at 2,389.29 on Friday.
