BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The management authorities of the Badaling section of the Great Wall in Beijing has adopted new rules on Monday to blacklist "uncivilized visitors" in order to better protect the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The authorities will give administrative penalties to seven misbehaviors including carving words on the walls and intentional damages to the cultural site. If the violations constitute a criminal offense, the violators will be handed over to the public security organs, according to the rules.
A blacklist would block travelers with "uncivilized behavior" that cause damage to the cultural relic and serious social impact from visiting the Badaling section of the Great Wall. Other tourist attractions in Yanqing District would also keep out those with a record of bad behavior.
The Badaling section of the Great Wall partly opened on March 24 after being closed for almost two months due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. Visitors must book tickets on the official website or through WeChat in advance and register with their personal information to get a health code, while their temperatures will be taken upon entry.
The Badaling Great Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in Beijing's Yanqing District, about 60 km northwest of the city center. It was the earliest section to open and is the most popular segment of the Great Wall among tourists. The scenic area received more than 9.9 million visitors in 2018.
