China's ICBC helps Laos fight COVID-19 by donating urgenly needed medical supplies

VIENTIANE, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) on Wednesday donated medical supplies to Laos to help the country fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donation ceremony was held here in the Lao Ministry of Health. The medical supplies included 150,000 medical masks and two nucleic acid spectrometers.

Lao Health Minister Bounkong Sihavong, while receiving the donation on behalf of the Lao government, said that ever since the COVID-19 was detected in Laos, the Lao people and the government have received a lot of support from the Chinese government and Chinese corporations.

The medical supplies from ICBC are professional equipment and in a high standard for medical system. The medical masks meet the requirements of surgery, and the two nucleic acid spectrometers are the urgently needed medical instruments in Laos, said the Lao minister, adding that all these supplies will signifivantly help Laos fight the COVID-19.

The ICBC Vientiane Branch has actively fulfilled its corporate social responsibility by joining all walks of life in Laos to fight the virus.

Laos reported one new COVID-19 case on Wednesday, bringing the total number of the cases in the country to 15.
