Libya reports one more COVID-19 case

TRIPOLI, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Libya's UN-backed government on Saturday reported one new COVID-19 case, bringing the total in the country to 25 with one death.

The National Center for Disease Control said in a statement that it tested 17 suspected cases, 16 of which were negative and one positive. Of the 25 confirmed cases, one has died and eight have recovered.

Libya reported its first case on March 24 and its first death from the virus on April 8.

The government has taken a series of measures against COVID-19, including closing airports, border crossings, mosques and educational institutions, banning mass gatherings and movements between cities, and imposing a curfew.

It has also reduced daily working hours, which now last from 9 a.m. (0700 GMT) to 2 p.m. (1200 GMT).
