KIGALI, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Rwandan Minister of Justice Johnston Busingye warned Saturday that people concealing information on coronavirus would face prosecution for endangering people's lives.

The Rwandan health ministry has appealed to all people, who arrived in Rwanda on March 19-20 from countries where coronavirus was registered, to report to Rwanda Biomedical Center without fail or call a toll-free line put in place by the ministry. But reports indicate some people have ignored the call.

"People who travelled within the period (and were) indicated by the health ministry but have failed to show up, failure to report to relevant authorities after exhibiting coronavirus symptoms, concealing people with symptoms at home, or a person (who) tests positive but conceals information on the contact people; all constitute a crime," Busingye said on national Rwanda television.

Such acts of concealment endanger many people's lives, they are therefore a crime punishable under the law, he added.

He said three or four people in the country are currently under investigation and would be prosecuted on allegations of knowingly concealing information on the coronavirus.

The health ministry on Saturday reported two new cases, bringing the tally in the country to 120.

Eighteen people have recovered from the coronavirus, according to the ministry.
