RABAT, April 26 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan security seized 365 kg of cannabis near the southwestern city of Agadir, official RIM radio reported on Sunday.

The banned substance was concealed on board a truck with fake license plates, RIM said, adding that a 31-year-old man suspected of drug trafficking was arrested.

The operation occurred on Saturday evening in the town of Amskroud, near Agadir.

Despite efforts to crack down on cannabis cultivation during the past decade, Morocco remains one of the world's largest producers of the narcotic plant, according to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

Moroccan security services have seized a total of 179,657 kg of cannabis in 2019, according to official statistics. Enditem
