DAKAR, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Senegalese Ministry of Health and Social Action on Friday reported 91 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number to 1,024 cases in the country.

Among the 901 virological examinations carried out during the past 24 hours, 91 returned positive, Senegalese Director General of Public Health Doctor Marie Khemesse Ngom Ndiaye revealed during a daily COVID-19 briefing.

According to her, 88 are follow-up contact cases and three are community transmission cases.

Twenty-two patients have been declared negative and cured, bringing the total number of cured patients to 356, she added.

She also announced two serious cases are still under intensive care in two hospitals in Dakar.

Among the 1,024 confirmed cases in the country, 826 are follow-up contact cases, 86 are imported cases and 112 are community transmission cases.
