Laos issues temporary guideline on entry-exit during COVID-19

VIENTIANE, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued the guideline on entry-exit the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, ports of entry across the country will continue to be shut, Lao News Agency (KPL) reported on Tuesday.

Those wishing to enter Laos must submit applications to the Lao National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. If allowed, they must file visa applications at Lao diplomatic agencies in the host countries.

They are also required to present medical certificates issued no later than 72 hours. Following arrivals, they will be tested for COVID-19 and subject to a 14-day quarantine at designated facilities.

Diplomatic agencies in Laos are suggested to send a list of those wishing to leave the country along with necessary information to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for consideration.

The guideline was announced on last Thursday and valid till May 17.

As of Tuesday, the number of infections of COVID-19 in Laos remained at 19 cases, including 13 patients having recovered from the virus and six cases being treated at the hospital. Enditem
