Number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Israel drops below 200

JERUSALEM, May 12 (Xinhua) -- The number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in Israel dropped below 200 on Tuesday, for the first time since March 15, the Israeli Ministry of Health said.

The number of hospitalized patients declined from 209 to 198, with 66 of them in serious condition, the ministry said.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Israel increased to 16,529, after 23 new cases were added on Tuesday.

Also, the number of recoveries increased to 12,083, with 240 new recoveries, while the number of active cases decreased to 4,186.

The death toll from the novel coronavirus soared to 260, after two new deaths were added.

Earlier Tuesday, Israel's Culture Minister Miri Regev announced that the theaters and cinemas across the country will reopen on June 14.

The reopening will be done by keeping two empty seats between viewers to prevent contagion through significantly reducing audience numbers. Enditem
