RABAT, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Morocco will distribute stipends to about 4.3 million households to help them cope with the social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak.
A sum of an equivalent of 440 million U.S. dollars has been mobilized for this operation to be launched on Thursday, the second of its kind since the North African country imposed a total shutdown on March 20, according to a statement published by the Moroccan finance ministry on Wednesday.
The 2.3 million households registered in the Moroccan Medical Assistance Regime (RAMED) and 2 million families working in the informal sector and not enrolled in RAMED will benefit from the operation.
Households of two people or fewer will receive stipends of 85 dollars, families of three to four receive 105 dollars, while families of more than four receive 125 dollars.
The first operation was organized on April 23 and ran until April 30.
Morocco announced 48 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday morning, raising the total number in the country to 6,466. Enditem
