BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Provincial-level regions in China have donated more batches of medical supplies to foreign regions to aid their fight against COVID-19.
On Friday, shipments of medical supplies donated by northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region left for Russia's Tula, Japan's Shimane Prefecture and Romania's Harghita County to help with the local coronavirus fight.
The supplies include 3,000 N95 respirators, 50,000 surgical masks, 15,000 disposable surgical masks and 1,500 protective suits. As of now, Ningxia has donated medical supplies to seven foreign cities and regions that it has friendly relations with.
"International friendship cities are an important platform for international exchange and cooperation. The assistance provided by Ningxia amid the epidemic is a vivid example of building a community with a shared future for mankind," said Zhang Tao, an official with the foreign affairs office of Ningxia.
Ningxia signed agreements on establishing friendly relations with Shimane in 1993, Harghita in 2005 and Tula in 2019.
On Thursday, over 20,000 masks donated by Shanghai were delivered to representatives of Russia's Saint Petersburg. The two cities established friendly relations in 2012.
At the request of the Russian side, Shanghai is preparing more donations of masks to Moscow, capital of Russia, according to the foreign affairs office of Shanghai.
The Sichuan NGO Network for International Exchanges has donated more than 10,000 surgical masks to the Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association and sent them to Indonesia on Thursday night.
In 2019, the two organizations held the Sichuan-Indonesia Economic, Trade and Cultural Exchange in Jakarta, further deepening the exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan and Indonesia.
In recent years, Sichuan had frequent exchanges with Indonesia in various fields such as economy and trade, agriculture, science and technology, education and tourism. Enditem
