BAKU, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan's armed forces embarked on large-scale operational and tactical exercises on Monday, aimed at building up combat capacity, the country's Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The five-day military drills involve up to 10,000 military personnel, 120 tanks and armored vehicles, 200 missiles and artillery systems, multiple launch rocket systems, and mortars, up to 30 jets and helicopters, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles.

In the course of the exercises, the troops will practice combat readiness, planning, and comprehensive support of operations, among others.

In late April, the nation's naval forces conducted tactical exercises in the Caspian Sea to practice protecting energy infrastructure in the operational zone. Enditem
