Laos reports no new case of COVID-19 for 36 days

VIENTIANE, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Laos reported no new case of the COVID-19 for 36 consecutive days, with the total number in the country unchanged at 19, Lao Deputy Minister of Health Phouthone Meaungpak told a press conference on Monday.

The National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Monday announced it had been monitoring 2,560 people at 91 accommodation centers across the country.

On Sunday, the number of truck drivers bringing freight into Laos from Thailand was 753, from Vietnam 726 and three people from China. The temperature of each person entering Laos was checked and no one showed signs of fever.

As of Monday, Laos tested 4,565 suspected cases with 19 cases tested positive, and 14 patients have recovered.

Another five infected cases are treated in designated hospital -- Mittaphab Hospital (Hospital 150) in Lao capital Vientiane.
