Turkish, Russian presidents discuss cooperation against COVID-19

ISTANBUL, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed the ways of closer cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic during a phone conversation on Monday, Turkey's presidential office said.

Both leaders also reviewed the possible steps that would be taken in the post-pandemic era, the presidency announced in a written statement.

The death toll from the coronavirus in Turkey climbed to 4,140, and the confirmed cases totaled 149,435, according to the latest figures of the Health Ministry.

Erdogan and Putin also discussed the regional issues, including the latest situation in Syria, and bilateral relations, according to the statement. Enditem
