Iran reports 2,111 new COVID-19 cases, 124,603 in total

TEHRAN, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Tuesday registered 2,111 new COVID-19 infections over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 124,603, according to an update by the Iranian Health Ministry.

The data showed 62 new death cases overnight, taking the tally of fatality to 7,119.

Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Center of the ministry, said that a total of 97,173 patients have recovered from the infectious disease, while 2,698 are still in critical condition and under treatment.

So far, 716,176 lab tests for COVID-19 have been carried out in the country, he noted.
