KUNMING, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The 93rd Mekong River joint patrol led by China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand started Tuesday from Jingha Port, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

Affected by the coronavirus pandemic, law enforcement authorities of the four countries will jointly direct the operation through a remote video command system.

A remote video conference was held by the four sides before the patrol to share information.

During the operation, the joint patrol team will crack down on all types of illegal and criminal activities and make every effort to ensure the safety and stability of shipping lanes.

China will donate a second batch of epidemic prevention supplies to the law enforcement departments of Laos, Myanmar and Thailand to help all parties in their epidemic prevention and control work.

The Mekong River, known as the Lancang River in China, is a vital waterway for cross-border shipping. Enditem
