Djibouti's COVID-19 cases surge to 1,828 as 210 new cases confirmed

ADDIS ABABA, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Djibouti's Ministry of Health on Wednesday announced 210 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Horn of Africa nation to 1,828.

The Djiboutian Ministry of Health disclosed in a statement that from a total of 1,123 people who were tested over the last 24 hours, 210 were tested positive for the virus.

The ministry also announced that some 1,052 people who have been infected with the COVID-19 have recovered as of the stated period.

Djibouti has so far conducted a total of about 20,056 COVID-19 tests, according to the Djibouti Ministry of Health, which has reported nine COVID-19 deaths.

Djibouti reported its first COVID-19 case on March 18.
