MANILA, May 21 (Xinhua) -- The total value of agricultural trade of the Philippines amounted to 21.22 billion U.S. dollars, or 11.6 percent of the total trade in 2019, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.
PSA data showed that the value of agriculture trade in 2019 rose by 5.0 percent from 2018.
Of the total agricultural trade, the PSA said 6.68 billion U.S. dollars or 31.5 percent were agricultural exports and 14.54 billion U.S. dollars or 68.5 percent were agricultural imports.
The PSA said the country's agricultural exports to the ASEAN member countries in 2019 amounted to 757.73 million U.S. dollars, which accounted for 7.0 percent of the total exports to ASEAN member countries.
Exports of agricultural goods to the European Union (EU) member countries in 2019 amounted to 1,102.45 million U.S. dollars or a share of 13.3 percent to the country's total agricultural exports to EU member countries, the PSA said.
The PSA also said the total agricultural imports amounted to 14.54 billion U.S. dollars or 13.0 percent of the country's total imports. It posted a 3.1 percent increment from the 14.10 billion U.S. dollars expenditure incurred in 2018, it added.
The PSA said the country's agricultural imports from ASEAN member countries in 2019 reached 4,855.35 million U.S. dollars which accounted for 15.9 percent of the total agricultural imports from ASEAN members.
According to the PSA, the country's agricultural imports from EU member countries amounted to 1,708.48 million U.S. dollars or a share of 17.3 percent to the total agricultural imports from EU member countries in 2019. Enditem
