TOKYO, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning, after inheriting a weak lead from Wall Street overnight as key jobs data from the United States showed that millions of Americans are continuing to lose their jobs every week due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 90.20 points, or 0.44 percent, from Thursday to 20,462.11.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 7.43 points, or 0.50 percent, at 1,483.78.
