PHNOM PENH, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's Ministry of Health (MoH) announced on Saturday that one more person was tested positive for the COVID-19, bringing the total number of the confirmed cases in the kingdom to 124.
The new patient is a 39-year-old Cambodian woman who returned to Phnom Penh on May 8 from New York, the United States, with a connecting flight in South Korea, the MoH said in a statement.
The woman has gone into a 14-day self-quarantine upon her arrival to Cambodia, the statement said, adding that she had her samples tested for the COVID-19 first on May 12 after having cough, stuffy nose and dry throat, but the result was negative.
"The doctors have advised her to continue self-quarantining, and she was tested for the COVID-19 again on May 22 after her symptoms persisted and the result showed that she was positive for the virus," MoH's secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said in the statement.
The woman is now undergoing treatment at an isolation ward in the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh, she said.
Vandine said the Southeast Asian country has so far recorded a total of 124 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 122 patients cured. Enditem
