Iran reports 1,869 new COVID-19 cases, 59 new deaths

TEHRAN, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education confirmed 1,869 novel coronavirus infections on Saturday, bringing the country's total number of cases to 133,521, according to the state-run IRNA news agency.

Kianush Jahanpur, head of Public Relations and Information Center of the ministry, reported 59 new deaths, taking the total to 7,359, while 2,633 patients are under intensive care in the hospitals.

A total of 104,072 people have recovered, he said.

The number of lab tests administered across the country stands at 781,286 as of Saturday.
