Kuwait records 20,464 COVID-19 cases, 148 deaths

KUWAIT CITY, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait on Saturday reported 900 new cases of COVID-19 and 10 more deaths, raising the tally of infections to 20,464 and the death toll to 148, the health ministry said in a statement.

Currently, 14,569 patients are receiving treatment, including 192 in ICU, according to the statement.

The ministry also announced the recovery of 232 more patients, raising the total recoveries in the country to 5,747.

The Kuwaiti government has imposed a full curfew in the country to curb the rapid rise of coronavirus cases.

On March 13, Kuwait suspended all commercial flights. The government also closed stores, malls and barbershops in an effort to curb the spread of the virus. Enditem
