BEIRUT, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's number of COVID-19 infections rose on Saturday by 11 cases to 1,097 while death toll remained unchanged at 26, the National News Agency reported.

Lebanese officials are adopting localized isolation in some areas to restrict the spread of the virus since they cannot keep the country closed for a long period amid the current economic deterioration.

However, the country remains under general mobilization until June 7 while some sectors continued to operate under a specific plan adopted by the cabinet.

Firas Abiad, director general of the Rafic Hariri University Hospital, tweeted on Saturday that the number of cases in the coming week will tell if the adopted measures are sufficient. Enditem
