Kyrgyzstan reports 35 new COVID-19 cases

BISHKEK, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday confirmed 35 new COVID-19 cases, raising its total number of infections to 1,468.

Among the newly infected cases, seven are medical workers, seven are Kyrgyz citizens who have evacuated from Russia and the rest are contacts of confirmed cases, said the country's Deputy Health Minister Nurbolot Usenbaev.

Usenbaev said the number of infected medical workers increased to 287, including 237 recoveries.

The deputy minister noted that 23 people recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,015.

Currently, 437 patients are in hospital with confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis, and four of them are in the intensive care unit, he added.

A total of 2,333 people in the country who have had contact with infected patients are under medical observation. Enditem
