HANOI, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam respects and supports the "one country, two systems" principle, a vice spokesperson for the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday regarding the latest decision on the national security legislation for Hong Kong adopted by China's national legislature.

The Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs, Doan Khac Viet, the vice spokesperson, said when answering Xinhua's question regarding the decision approved at the just concluded third session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) earlier on Thursday.

Vietnam pays attention to and follows the Hong Kong situation, and has clearly stated its stance on the Hong Kong affairs, Viet said.

He added that Vietnam would like to see Hong Kong enjoying stability and prosperous development.

Deputies to the 13th NPC attending the closing meeting of the annual session voted overwhelmingly to approve the NPC Decision on Establishing and Improving the Legal System and Enforcement Mechanisms for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to Safeguard National Security. Enditem
