SYDNEY, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The number of cases on board the live animal export ship, Al Kuwait, which is docked in the Australian state of Western Australia (WA), jumped to 20 on Friday, with eight new positive tests.

WA Health Minister Roger Cook revealed that all 48 crew have been tested and the ten who remained on the ship all returned negative results.

He added that they may be retested in the coming days if any symptoms occur.

The other crew members including those who tested positive had been transferred to hotel quarantine for isolation to reduce the risk of spread to the local community.

Australian authorities are continuing to question why the ship was allowed to dock at Fremantle Port after returning from the Middle East on May 22, despite that three crew members had displayed high body temperatures. Enditem
