Air freight route links Shenzhen, Chicago, Anchorage

SHENZHEN, May 29 (Xinhua) -- China Southern Airlines, the country's largest air carrier, said on Friday that a new air freight route linking southern China's Shenzhen with the U.S. cities of Anchorage and Chicago will be launched on May 31.

It will be the first regular intercontinental freight route opened by Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport this year and the first regular intercontinental freight route from Shenzhen to Chicago.

The first flight is due to transport nearly 90 tonnes of epidemic-prevention supplies, including medical masks, forehead thermometers and protective suits, produced by enterprises in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The route is scheduled to operate three times per week, on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, respectively.

China Southern Airlines said that, so far, it has transported more than 470 tonnes of anti-epidemic supplies from Shenzhen to Sydney, Melbourne, Dubai and Manila. Enditem
