YANGON, June 2 (Xinhua) -- A total of 2,830 Myanmar nationals have arrived back home by relief flights as of Monday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
So far, Myanmar authorities have repatriated its citizens who were stranded in 22 foreign countries and region due to the suspension of international commercial flight during the COVID-19 pandemic, an official from the Consular and Legal Affairs Department under the ministry told Xinhua.
Recently, 83 Myanmar citizens from Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea arrived back home by a relief flight on Monday.
"About 80 to 100 Myanmar nationals from Germany will arrive in Yangon on June 4," the official said.
It was learnt that the returnees will be put under quarantine at designated facilities or hotels in Yangon region for 21 days on their arrivals.
According to the Health and Sports Ministry, Myanmar has reported 228 COVID-19 cases and six deaths as of early Tuesday. Enditem
