RABAT, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The COVID-19 pandemic in Morocco on Tuesday continued its downward trend for the fifth day in a row, with 33 new cases recorded.

The total COVID-19 cases rose to 7,866, said Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the Moroccan Centre for Public Health, at a press briefing.

The death toll from the coronavirus rose to 206, with one new fatality registered in the last 24 hours, Mrabet said.

Meanwhile, 517 more patients have recovered from the coronavirus in the biggest single-day rise in recoveries, taking the tally of recoveries to 6,410 since the outbreak on March 2.

China has helped Morocco fight the COVID-19 pandemic. On May 14, China Development Bank sent a batch of donation to Morocco, including respirators and medical protective masks.

China's Guizhou Province has also donated 15,000 surgical gloves, 20,000 medical masks and 2,000 protective suits to help protect Moroccan medical workers fighting the pandemic. Enditem
