BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhua) -- America's wingspiker Matt Anderson is set to join Shanghai men's volleyball team next season, according to the local media in Shanghai on Friday.

The two-time Olympian, wingspiker of the American men's volleyball team, has reached an initial agreement with the Shanghai volleyball club and will play in China Volleyball Super League (CVSL) in the 2020-2021 season, according to the head coach of Shanghai Shen Qiong in an interview with local media.

"We have met Matt several times before, he is a very good player and he is willing to play in Asia. So we have reached an agreement," said Shen, "He can play both a wingspiker and an opposite setter, which will enhance our strength over the net."

The Shanghai men's volleyball team has won the title of the Chinese volleyball league 12 times, including five consecutive titles.

The 2019-2020 season of the CVSL has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic following the first round matches played on January 19, while Shen said that the CVSL may resume before August. Enditem
