BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The Supreme People's Court (SPC) on Friday issued a document vowing to punish criminal acts damaging the ecological environment in the Yellow River basin, in accordance with law.

Criminal acts such as environmental pollution, illegal mining, deforestation, and illegal hunting and killing of rare, endangered wild animals will be the focus, according to the document.

People's courts across the country are required to properly handle relevant cases to help create a law-based business environment and promote industrial transformation and upgrading in regions along the Yellow River, said Tao Kaiyuan, vice president of the SPC.

They will also step up the handling of cases concerning administrative organs that fail to meet supervisory duties on illegal acts damaging the environment, the document stated. Enditem
