YAOUNDE, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon female football star Gaelle Enganamouit has announced her retirement from the sport.
Enganamouit made the low-key announcement Tuesday evening as she marked her 28th birthday.
"End. Thanks for all," she said in an Instagram post.
The African women's football legend has been without a club since she mutually parted ways in April 2019 with Spanish side Malaga.
A knee injury has handicapped her for 3 years affecting her playing time and performances greatly.
Enganaouit remains a female football star in Cameroon with two AFCON finals appearances (2014, 2016).
She won the 2015 African Women's Player of the Year prize, and was nominated for the BBC Women's Footballer of the Year award in 2016. Enditem
